UOB President Praises Research Closely Related to Development

The President of the University of Bahrain (UOB), Dr. Riyad Yousif Hamzah, received the Assistant Professor in the Civil Engineering Department, Dr. Muna Abdullatif Abdullah, who offered him a copy of her thesis for a PhD in Civil Engineering at the same university.

Dr. Hamza welcomed the Assistant Professor, praising her thesis topic entitled: “Optimal Design Of Bridge Structures According to Standards Provisions of Using Algorithms Of Metaheuristic”, and he was pleased that she chose a topic closely related to local and regional development needs, as the thesis applications and algorithms help in designing bridges with lower weights and prices.

Also, he stated that “We always call researchers to choose the topics that will contribute to advancing development and finding solutions to industrial and production problems.”

For her part, Dr. Muna Abdullah thanked the President of the University for his support and encouragement, expressing her pleasure in being one of the first graduates of the PhD program in Civil Engineering at UOB.

It’s worth mentioning that Dr. Muna Abdullah got her master’s degree in Civil Engineering in 2005 from UOB as well, then worked as a civil engineer in the Road Design Department at the Ministry of Works from 2006 to 2011, and joined the faculty at UOB in 2011.
